Health Insurance Options

Every student at Rice is required to show proof of health insurance. However, there are several options when deciding on a health insurance plan:

• Insurance students may choose to continue their national health plan, if allowed by their home country and if it provides for medical services in the U.S.
• Students may choose to purchase a plan designed specifically for Rice students, known as the Rice Plan. It is developed each year by a committee of students, faculty, and staff.
• Students may choose an individual plan from an independent carrier.
• Rice GSA maintains membership in the National Graduate Student Association, thus, graduate students are eligible for health insurance offered through the association. See http://www.nagps.org.
